We are an ambulatory and hospital-based practice located near Richmond, Virginia.  We see a wide range of cases across many disciplines.  Whether you are passionate about history, arts, gardens, antiques, fine dining, outdoor recreation, theme parks, or NASCAR, there’s something for every taste in the Historic Richmond Region.  You can’t beat the location with our proximity to the ocean, the mountains, and Washington D.C.

We are a team of 8 veterinarians, 4 licensed veterinary technicians, and a great staff of veterinary assistants, schedulers, office and barn staff.  We value our collaborative environment with two surgeons, a theriogenologist,  and sports medicine oriented doctors with backgrounds in ISELP, chiropractic, and acupuncture.  Our ambulatory team and interns rotate through an on call schedule and have the direct support of our surgery team for any cases that need referral to the hospital.  We are well equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy, shockwave, nuclear scintigraphy, regenerative abilities, etc.  Our dedicated team of assistants and technicians provide around the clock monitoring for our hospitalized patients, allowing our interns and externs to focus on case management experience and mentorship opportunities.  

When visitors come through our hospital they often comment on how great the people are that work here and how wonderful of a community we have.  Our core purpose is to honor the human-horse bond.  We value the people that are part of our team, without the people none of the work we do could happen.  We believe in getting our boots dirty - everyone and every role matters!  We all pitch in to help each other out, no matter the task.  We are a steadfast partner for our clients and our staff.  And we value continued learning - we call it engaging the 4x4!  We are willing to try new things and venture down new paths in order to achieve the best outcomes.  

We are dedicated to offering students valuable learning opportunities when they spend time with us.  Each externs schedule is catered to their special interests and preferences based off our doctor's scheduled appointments.  Externships range from one week to multiple weeks.  Externs work closely with our entire team (veterinarians, interns, and technician staff) to provide care to our patients. The volume and diversity of cases seen at the clinic will provide you an opportunity for advancement of skill set and knowledge base. You will gain experience becoming competent and proficient with a multitude of different emergency, surgery, sports medicine, imaging, and internal medicine skills. 

Externships at Woodside Equine Clinic are offered to current veterinary students, with a preference given to 3rd and 4th year students.

Woodside Equine Clinic does strive to have a great working environment and encourages the veterinarians and staff to pursue their areas of interest. Our case load is predominately English sport horse. Many of our clients show hunters but there are dressage, jumpers, trail and many other disciplines in the area. We see many warm bloods along with thoroughbreds, ponies and may other breeds. Woodside Equine Clinic is a well managed practice and member of a Veterinary Management Group. We strive to have an enjoyable practice culture and encourage professional growth of our employees.
