Seeking a full-time or part-time Veterinarian committed to providing the highest quality of veterinary care in a compassionate, warm, and welcoming environment. Possesses enthusiasm, good organizational skills, exotic medicine, and willingness to be a part of a strong compassionate team. This person is entrepreneurial, self-directed, and passionate about providing exceptional experiences for team members, clients, and patients. Diagnostic and technical skills to handle emergency and critically ill patients case by case. Because we are growing, this position will need to work across many disciplines, interacting effectively throughout the organization and fully leveraging the resources available. Ideal candidates will have an interest in spending time educating clients and working as part of a team. Special interests such as exotics are welcome, and we are happy to explore any interest that could be a good fit for our clientele. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited school of veterinary medicine or certification through ECFVG required.
Services include routine health checks, vaccinations, dentistry, in-house labs, and digital radiographs.
Dr. Heather Jones is the Practice Owner and Chief Veterinarian at Animal Friends. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, where she earned her Veterinary Medical Doctoral (VMD) degree with honors. She worked in small animal practice for a few years before becoming a zoo veterinarian at the Detroit and Toledo Zoos. Dr. Jones also enjoyed being a high school biology teacher and instructor to veterinary technology students. She opened Animal Friends in 2014 and loves seeing her patients and teaching pet parents about animal care. Dr. Jones is passionate about recycling and conservation and likes the challenge of seeing a variety of exotic animal species. Outside of animals, she enjoys photography, travel, and watching her daughter dance!
